My Short Fat loss story

My name is Will Sugg this is my story about my fat loss. I’ll make it short and to the point.  I made my 2008 New Years Resolution to make getting in shape and losing weight my number 1 goal.   

 
2008 Goal: Get in shape and lose 30 pounds or more of belly fat.
2008 Goal Requirements:

    1.)  Whatever exercise I do, cannot take more than an hour.
    2.)  I must never feel hungry. (Free Smoothie ebook below.)

As of today May 12, 2008 I’ve lost 32 pounds. I started on January 8, 2008 and weighed 220 and on the morning of May 12, I’m down to 188.  My wife got so excited about it, she’s now asking me for advice on how to lose fat.  

I’m 41, married, with 2 kids under the age of 5 and have a full time job.   Saying I’m busy is an understatement.   I read a lot about fat loss and bought a lot lot of online programs along the way.  Some were junk, others were better.  I found a few of the better ones that I took 1 or 2 things from to add into my fat loss program.

The above pictures are before pics taken on January, 8th 2008 weighing 220.   I took them for motivation.  Now I’m really glad I did since I don’t want to go back to that.

                          

The above pictures were taken on May, 16th 2008 weighing 188, 32 pounds lighter.  I still have some more to lose and I’ll post new pics as I lose the next few pounds. 

My new revised goal is less body fat, not so much a weight or fat loss number. I’m on my way to 185 or possibly 180.

How I would like to help you.

After doing all the research and obtaining my goal.  I decided to put together a quick website to tell you what I did to lose 32 pounds of body fat and how it worked for me. 

As you already know there is a lot of junk ebooks out there for sale.  I would like to help you sift through the junk.   I’m going to review a few on my blog, that way you won’t waste any more of your valuable time or money on the junk ones.  Let me spend my money first, then you won’t have to.  Deal?

Below are 2 Reviews about programs that combine exercise and changing your diet.  That’s the best and fastest way for fat loss.  I bought and follow parts of, if not all, of each one.  They will help you get rid of fat and keep it off for good.  I know that if it worked for me, then it will work for you too. 

Fat Loss Program Reviews: 

Fat Loss Secret   Rating ****

I bought this one to see what kind of secret there was that I didn’t already know.  Once I bought and read this ebook I realized I was already utilizing a number of the Techniques.  However the book goes into details that I did not know about different foods to help lose weight fast. 

I learned a lot about fat loss from reading it.  Dr. Suzanne helps you create an Exercise and Diet plan that will no doubt help you lose fat.  If you don’t want to exercise but just follow her advice on changing your diet, you will achieve fat loss.  It just won’t be as fast as if you exercised too. She describes a way of weaning yourself off bad foods and onto the good ones. 

There is also a section about Parasites and other intestinal organisms that may be keeping you from losing weight even if you are doing “all the right” things.  If that is the case for you then this book could help explain to you why you are not losing the weight that you want to.  

For me that section of the book, about the intestinal organisms that could be living inside of me, was a complete eye opener.  I think reading that was worth the price alone.   It truly was shocking to think this could be the case.  I’m going take her advice and to do something about it, that’s for sure.

Even though the website kind of looks like it’s geared to women, this plan will work just as well for men too.

I haven’t yet adopted all the recommendations from the Fat Loss Secret into my diet and lifestyle.  I do however know that a number of them that I have adopted have really helped me in losing body fat.  Learn More About it here.

Truth About Abs   Rating ****

I bought this one because I want my Abs to pop out.  I’ll admit that I want my Abs to look like some of the Fitness Models in magazines you see at the newsstand, however I’m not there yet.  I am certain though from reading this ebook that I am on my way to achieving that.  This ebook is by far one of the better ones about explaining what you need to do to look like those fitness models. 

It’s an exercise and diet plan that can be adatped to both men and women and even to those busy professionals like myself.  I used a plan exactly like this to acheive my 32 pounds of fat loss. 

In the very front of the ebook there is a short but very vital part of why most people do not achieve their fat loss goal.  In that chapter Mike describes the exact process that I used to get where I am today.  There is no disputing the fact that if you apply what he has written in this very short but very important part of the book you will succeed.  What he writes about isn’t earth shattering and everyone has heard it before but those that follow it will get what they want out of his program.  I’ve never seen anyone talk about this information in any fitness program before.

Mike Geary is Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Nutrition Specialist.  The entire first part of his book is devoted to nutrition.  The foods you should be eating to be healthy.   For anyone serious about developing thier Abs or just plain looking better, nutrition is the major foundation that your results are built upon.  If you don’t eat right then you will not lose the fat. 

It’s a complete myth that you need to starve yourself to acheive fat loss.  In fact it’s the complete opposite, you need to eat.  That’s why Mike’s book really helps people, by explaining all the details of good nutrition.  You can though have fat loss with little exercise like walking around the block of your neighborhood, but you will most definitely need  to know what foods to eat.

If you want to do the exercise portion then this book is where it’s at.  There are plenty of pictures to help see what the exercises look like and even different angles so you can see the start and finish.  Most books just have 1 picture of the exercise move and they are in black and white.  This book has color pictures and you can even enlarge them to better see what he’s doing.  To learn more click here.

Fat Loss and Traveling

My family and I are fortunate enough the be able to go on Vacation for a week this year. We’re heading to Mexico soon, in about a week. That means that I’ll be away from our kitchen and I can’t plan my meals for that week.    I have been doing that the past few months while I’ve been exercising and losing fat.   I know for the whole week I’ll be eating out in restaurants, drinking more beer that I do now and of course having fun. Gotta live it up a little right?

However I’ve worked really hard this past winter and spring to lose 32+ pounds and I don’t want to gain it all back in 1 week.   I went away earlier this year for a week and gained 5 pounds. I’m going to try my hardest to limit this trip to that as well or less.

I’m going to make sure I take an hour at least 3-4 times during the week to exercise.
Here’s my plan to keep the wieght off while on vacation but still have fun with my family, in-laws included.

5 Point My Plan

1. Have Fun and Relax with the family.
2. Stay on my 6 meal plan and eat as much veggies and fruits instead of white carbs.
3. While ordering in a restaurants sub veggies for fried starches, eat whole beans instead of refried.
4. Eat protiens.
5. Exercise 3-4 times for an hour and try to do cardio intervals 2-3 times…1 hour max.

It’s number 5 that is going to be the hardest to keep up with. At the place were staying, I don’t think they have a gym like I go to here at home so I needed to find a solution.   Here’s how I think I found a way around that.

There’s a program called Turblulence Training that uses your own bodyweight to exercise your muscles and you get a good workout doing it.   Using this program you don’t need anything like a gym so this fits perfect for me while on a vacation.   I can do it outside on the beach in the morning when it’s still cool, or in the shade somewhere in the afternoon, or even if I don’t have time till later in the evening I’ll be able to exercise in our hotel room. If the hotel we’re staying in has a treadmill and a small workout room all the better.

3 reasons I Do Cardio Interval Training For Fast Fat Loss

I’ve been doing a Interval Training on a treadmill for the past few months and it’s helped me lose fat.  I know this was one of the real fat loss tactics that made a difference for me while losing my 32+ pounds.     I know this for sure because the last time, a few years ago BK (before kids), I tried to do something like this and I just ran forever.  I would run 45mins to an hour at a time and it took way longer to lose weight than this time.

There are several reasons I’ve been choosing that thype of cardio workout.  Here they are in order.

1. Time required in the gym (25 mins tops).

2. Interval trianing is also good for endurance ( I’m planning on climbing Mt. Adams, end of June.)

3. You have a longer calorie burn than just slogging on for an hour so you burn fat longer.

To do cardio interval training you need the do a little math first then just drive yourself to do it.  The math is 220 - minus your age, to find your MHR (Max Heart Rate). 

Of course if your already fit then this is not how you should figure your MHR.  Once you have your MHR then put on a good Heart Rate Monitor and hop on the tradmill.  Do 5 mins for warm up, I run at 5 or 6 mph.  Then d the intervals,push yourself to 85-90% of your MHR for 1-2 minutes.   You may have to work up to 2 mins at first, at least I did.  Then slow way down to a jog 4.5-5 mph for 1 min.  Rinse and repeat 4 more times for a total of 5 reps.  Run/Walk for a Cooldown for about 5 mins.  Hit the showers when your ready and go on about your day.

If you do this 3 times a week and eat a balanced diet you’ll notice the fat dropping off you and the see good results.  Add weight training to this and you’ll melt the fat off in no time.  It worked for me so I know it will for you.

7 Facts That Worked For My Fat Loss.

7 facts that worked for my fat loss.

By following these 7 facts I’ve lost a total of 32 pounds so far.  I’ve adjusted my lifestyle to include these so now they have become habits really.

My new 7 habits

 1.  Workout 3 days of cardio interval training and 3 days of lifting weights.
 2.  Drink only Water (8-12 glasses a day), coffee (no more than 16 oz with non fat milk), 1% milk, and tea.   Alcohol on weekends.
 3.  Prepare my own lunches ahead of time for work, only lean Protein and Vegetables.
 4.  Drink 1 smoothie or protien shake a day, my favorite part by the way. They help me feel full longer.
 5.  Eat only whole grains, whole fruits, vegetables, and nuts. 
 6.  Eat as many vegetables as I want.
 7.  Do not eat anything with Trans Fat or High Fructose Corn Syrup in it.  

I learned in my research that Trans Fat equals Visceral Fat which equals health problems.

One good extra benefit from my fat loss

I really didn’t expect to have my back pain reduced from my weight loss.   I know for sure since I’ve been exercising more regularly, and following my plan the back pain I used to have is now gone.  I’m sure it had something to do with carrying around the extra 32 pounds of belly fat.  By sticking to the plan my core is stronger and leaner and now my back has less work to do.  Pain gone.  In about 2-3 months time I really started to notice the difference.  I’m sure if you stick with a good program like this one you too can get rid of excess belly fat and keep it off for good.
 

Make Smoothies for Fat Loss

I really enjoy smoothies and drinking them has helped me with my fat loss.  Here’s a short video I made about how to make smoothies for fat loss and also some of the reasons I like smoothies.

If you make your own you can make them very low-fat and at the same time healthy and very filling. The whipped air into the Yogurt and other ingredients makes you feel full longer after drinking one, more than water does.  If you add fiber like ground flax seed you will also keep from feeling hungry.

I incorporate smoothies into my day as a mid morning snack or after a workout at the gym. Doing that has helped me lose weight and has kept me from binge eating.  Add ingredients like flax, or instant oatmeal bulks them up into more of a meal.

The ingredients I like to use for smoothies are fresh fruit, fat free yogurt, flax seed, whey protein powder, bananas, and some milk and or ice.  I use that as a basic smoothie recipe and adjust it to what we have in the freezer or fresh on the counter fruit.  The banana is good for 2 reasons, it gives the smoothie a creamy texture and also adds potassium.  You can really just toss everything in the blender, there’s no need to really measure out the ingredients.  If it’s too thick add milk, ice, berries, or water.   If it’s too thin add yogurt, banana, or some etra protein powder.  After you make 2 or 3 you’ll get the hang of how much of what ingredient you need to add.

You can make smoothies for breakfat or as a breakfast substitute if your in a hurry to get to the office.  Make some for breakfast drink half and put the other half in a thermos and drink it at your office for your mid morning snack.  Add these ingredients for a filling breakfast, instant oatmeal, peanut butter, or any fruit.

Frozen berries are good to add to smoothies because they add a little liquid but more importantly they add huge flavor.  Other frozen fruits do the same thing but I just like to use berries when we have them.

Smoothies are the best for dessert because you can make them very sweet but at the same time lowfat.   Add some chocolate whey powder or peanut butter or both even to have a real decadent dessert that will even help you lose weight.
